The Senate Democrats have stabbed the Democratic voters in the back again. Ignoring the massive outrage among Democrats, they've annointed Hillary clone, neoliberal corporatist Chuck Schumer as the highest ranking member of the Democratic party. We must take action to oppose this horrible, insulting decision.
This is an abominable early signal from Democratic elected officials that they are totally tone-deaf, out of touch with reality and moving forward, on the Democrat death march to permanent minority status that Hillary, Obama, Harry Reid, and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's DNC set the Democrats on.
The joke is that Schumer, one of the leaders in defending the rotten system, as it is and has been, announced today that the Senate knows that the people believe that the system is not working for them and he promised, "we're going to change it for them." He also added that there's a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. (not.)
Linda Milazzo, writing in her article, Why Democrats Must Elect Bernie Senate Minority Leader, said,
"Considering the overwhelming defeats the Democrats just suffered in losing the Presidency, both Houses of Congress and the potential for a progressive Supreme Court majority, it is imperative the next Senate Leader be a champion for the Democratic Party and its principles. Chuck Schumer has demonstrated time and again he is not the Senator for the job. He is not an honest broker and should not be rewarded with the pivotal Leader position."It is time that we the people stop allowing the people we elect to make stupid, bad decisions that oppose our own interests. It's time to go to Washington, go to the local offices of the senators who supported such a bad choice to be the most powerful person in the Democratic Party. Write letters to them Call them. Tell them that they can't get away with this incredibly stupid, insulting decision.
The person who should be the Senate Minority leader is Bernie Sanders. He's not an official member of the party but he votes and caucuses with the Democrats in the senate. Linda Milazzo says,
"Bernie Sanders has proven to be a valiant Senator, a relentless supporter of democratic principles and a leader for all Americans. He's an "every person" Democrat in the great tradition of Franklin Roosevelt. As Minority Leader, Senator Sanders would take on the Republican leadership and stand up to Chuck Schumer's long-time friend, Donald Trump."
Perhaps the Democrats are oblivious to the massive repudiation of their neoliberal, toadying to corporation policies by the voters. Perhaps they think that we'll just let the same-old sell-out sh*t slide. We need to show then that they are wrong.
