Student-Loan Debacle!

Student-loan debt is not only enslaving our young people and destroying our economy--it is changing the future of our families and our society.

How can young people marry and have families when they are hopelessly in debt just as they start their lives? Two young people each with an average $30,000 in debt are practically guaranteed to live in poverty for at least 10 years.  Certainly they can't buy houses or cars.

The banks and corporations--and the same corrupt Democrats and Republicans in Congress--that brought us this disaster are the same ones who gave us the Great Recession, export our jobs, and make sure wages stay low and unemployment stays high.

"I love you, darling! But how much is your student loan debt? And how can I marry you when I am a debt slave myself?"

Don't worry parents! The kids can stay on your health insurance until they're 26, and live at home!

As governor of Florida I will create the good middle-class jobs we need, reduce the interest on student loans, and slash the cost of higher education in Florida until it is free (and the state will make money from free college).

No Republican or Democrat could ever do what an independent governor with an economic plan can do.

Farid A. Khavari, PhD, is an independent candidate for Florida govern or 2014.
