Strike updates for Italy, Greece, US, Canada, UK

Hundreds of thousands of workers put down their tools and took to the streets in a four hour stoppage stating "we won't pay for the crisis".

The strike by the General Confederation of Italian workers (CGIL) shut down postal services nationwide, transport services and airports in several cities and many automobile manufacturers, some of which strikers were joined by members of other unions.

Future strikes were being planned for Feb. 2009

Greek workers are set to go on general strike 19th March 2009 in protest of the government pension reforms and mishandling of the banking crisis.

FRANCE: General Strike 29 January 2009

Trade Unions: CFDT, CFTC, CFE-CGC, CGT, FOR, FSU, Solidaires, UNSA

Hundreds of thousands of workers have begun a nationwide strike in France. Eight labor unions have called the industrial action to protest against what they say are insufficient measures by the government to tackle the economic crisis. Unions say that with unemployment mounting, French workers should not have to foot the bill for a crisis that has led to expensive government bailouts for banks, carmakers and other sectors.

Please let me know if you fancy doing this in your city. I hope you all join in on this special day. IMAGINE.
