"If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit" - W.C. Fields

Donald Trump's persona strikes me as that of a full grown man who still reads super hero comic books. In comic book terms, it's a persona that might be summed up as a critical mass of gamma-ray enriched hubris, turbo-charged audacity, thermo-nuclear bombast, super-duper delusion, and super-sonic superciliousness. Combined, it has produced a megalomaniacal super hero/villain of comic-book-like proportions: Super Trump, an un-insulated live wire producing ultra-negative energy generated by a peculiar strain of endless attention derived through ever-escalating acts of absurdity.

Of course, every super hero has a secret identity. Figuring out this one is fairly easy. Simply mix a double shot of Tony Soprano with two more of Vince McMahon, add a large scoop of Archie Bunker, and a steaming poop-load of the late, not-so-great former Ohio Congressman James "Jimbo" Traficant. That's Super Trump-- without the costume. It's a profile easily drawn when it comes to an individual so obviously engulfed in a vortex of his own meticulously self-constructed mythology.

In Donald Trump, the world is presented with an imaginary tough street kid who came of age on the mean streets of the plush Jamaica Estates in Queens, New York (circa. 1946) before bringing the "ruckus" to the Wharton School of Finance in order to figure out what to do with $40 million bequeathed to him from his dad Fred, himself a quasi- self-made millionaire.

Whether spawned out of a sense of guilt over being born on third base; by mental illness developed from a overwhelming sense of entitlement (affluenza?); or by an emotional overload stemming from excess privilege, the super-ego that engrains Trump's self-imposed super hero persona has fostered a predictable compulsion to be recognized as the most powerful man in the world. Suffice to say, Trump envisioning himself as worthy of the office of President of the United States seems the logical outcome of a deeply vainglorious yearning to re-make the world in his own hallucinatory image by way of a lifelong effort to shape the view held by folks like you and me about just who Donald Trump is.
