Stealth Weapon Of The (Christofascist) Right: Is David Lane The Most Dangerous Man In America?

The call to Christofascism's theocracy has never been clearer:

Inspired by the example set by his own pastor, Rob McCoy of Calvary Chapel in Thousand Oaks, California, who ran his own, ultimately unsuccessful, bid for state assembly, [David] Lane realized that if he could get 1,000 pastors to run for office all across America, and each one of those campaigns could mobilize 300 volunteers, then right-wing Christians could finally take control of this nation through the electoral process.

That's 300,000 people rabidly promoting a Christian-only nation run strictly on tenets from the Bible. Sounds improbable, but if anyone can accomplish the feat, David Lane can: he has been the "man behind the scenes" of the last decade's Evangelical putsches.

For example, which much has been made of the AFA-sponsored GOP visit to Israel, (with the demotion of Bryan Fischer to mere "broadcaster"), it was David Lane who engineered the visit with Fischer taking the fall. And his influence is considerable, being the chief link between the Christian Right and the campaigns of Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, and Bobby Jindal.

Likely Presidential contenders Ted Cruz and Bobby Jindal will headline the American Renewal Project's Pastors and Pews event in Iowa next week, according to the Des Moines Register. By leading the event, Cruz and Jindal ally themselves with one of the most inflammatory voices in the Republican Party: David Lane, who founded the American Renewal Project.

Others under Lane's thumb are Rand Paul, Newt Gingrich and David Barton. Their careers depend upon his sponsorship and event planning.

Wikipedia:

Funded largely by the American Family Association (AFA),[1] Lane has organized political briefings with appearances by fundamentalist pastors such as David Barton and politicians such as Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann and Haley Barbour. In his behind-the-scenes work for right-wing politics, Lane has been described by The New York Times as "something of a stealth weapon for the right". [1]

Interesting note: while the wiki profile on Lane is extensive, none exists on American Renewal Project. Hmmm.
