Standing in the wind of a wild waterfall

If you want to stand in the wind of the waterfall

First you walk in from the road

Skirting the poison soybean field

Up through the hemlocks

With the stream below in shadow

With the orange no trespassing signs

To the left

Past the blowdown of pines

Where you would never want to trespass anyway

And you keep going up

Until you get to the top

Where a giant hemlock lies diagonally

Across the noisy tumult of white water

Like a Jurassic bridge to the cliff

That reminds you of an ancient temple wall

And then you climb down

So you are standing on a big mossy rock

And you feel it

The wind of the waterfall

Now you can sit or stand and meditate

Or let your thoughts flow down with the stream

Down through the gorge

That is a very natural thing to do

It doesn't really matter what you do
You can cry or cry out

There are no rules

When you are being cleansed

By the wind of falling water
