Senate Votes To Block Witnesses From Testifying In Impeachment Trial Natasha Brown reports.

10:54 minutes to watch this unfold. Please keep this for reference in the future, in terms of talking with friends, family, and colleagues in the states in which these Republicans come from.

It saddens me deeply to observe the very obvious: that these Republicans voted like puppets in the worst imaginable tin pot banana republic, and the world will conclude that this cannot be the "world's most deliberative body."

Moveon.org put it this way in an email I just received:

What an absolute and total disgrace.

There's only one solution left to save our democracy and hold Trump accountable:

We need to make sure that this shameless cover-up ends the political careers of Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Cory Gardner, Martha McSally, Joni Ernst, and every other Senate Republican who enabled this outrage.

See how each senator voted on witnesses at Trump's trial

Chuck Schumer Decries Senate Rejecting Calling Witnesses: 'A Grand Tragedy'

"To not allow a witness, a document, no witnesses, no documents, in an impeachment trial is a perfidy, a grand tragedy, one of the worst tragedies that the Senate has ever overcome. America will remember this day, unfortunately, where the Senate did not live up to its responsibilities, where the Senate turned away from truth and went along with a sham trial. If the president is acquitted with no witnesses, no documents, the acquittal will have no value, because Americans will know that this trial was not a real trial." Schumer stated.

"It had no witnesses. No documents. It is a tragedy on a very large scale," Schumer concluded.

Not that the "greatest deliberative body in the world," the US Senate, will direct or indirectly set the standards for all judicial decisions in the future, since we have those 3 branches with all of those great checks and balances, right?

However, certainly all defense lawyers at all levels of courts in all of the states will use this Impeachment Trial as a precedent for not just rejection prosecutors' call for witnesses and documents in the prosecution of serious crimes. Why not? It worked for Trump, and the Presiding Judge was the Chief Justice of the United States.

What it says to the rest of the world remains to unfold as I study the world's presses and their treatment of this news.

What it says to the American public, 3/4 of which wanted to hear what John Bolton and others had to say, also remains to be seen. Are they angry?
