US President Joe Biden responding to a report of his memory decline
Apparently, Russian journalist Dmitry Kiselyov has requested to interview US President Joe Biden.
Since American journalist Tucker Carlson interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this month Kiselyov reasoned "Russian's would appreciate the opportunity to hear Biden's take on 'how to stabilize the international situation, restore trust, and renew cooperation between the United States and Russia' amid the crisis ties between the two powers". [1]
Kiselyov sent a letter addressed to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on February 15. Thus far the White House hasn't responded to the request. Thus far no US newspaper has reported on the request.
The take from here is I wouldn't hold my breath expecting Biden to respond favorably to the interview request.
Here's why:
With the presidential election in November Biden doesn't want to be seen as catering to the Russians in any way.
Biden's invested so much in money and weapons supporting Ukraine while demonizing Putin and Russia he'll be afraid he'd look "soft" granting such an interview.
Then there's Biden's cognitive ability that has clearly diminished. A one to one interview without his handlers able to control his responses Biden's feebleness would be there for all to see.
Carlson's two hour interview with Putin "has garnered more than 46 million views on his X account, a million views on You Tube in the first hours since its release."
That Biden would agree to sit in a one to one interview for two hours with a Russian journalist is hard to imagine.
