I hear the Russkies are planning the Big Push,
And intend to knock the Ukes on their tush,
Now that their cities are dark and hard-froze,
The moment's right for their army to bulldoze,
And finish this mess while the finishing's good,
And set an s. quo that by all's understood.
.
'Cause I really don't think when push comes to shove,
The Yanks will parachute from heaven above,
And gallop to the rescue a-la-John-Wayne,
Show Russia who's boss and wash her troops a-drain.
No, the Yanks will settle to see Russia bleed,
And break Europe off from Putin's gas feed.
.
One worry's when the Ukes see help ain't comin',
And hear Russians near with war-fife and drummin',
What won't they resort to as a last last-ditch?
Dirty bombs or a little bio/chem witch?
Z and his crew know they'll be for the high jump,
And I'll bet up their sleeve they've got a card trump.
.
The other scenario's even more scary,
But surely in keeping with neocons hairy:
All in on Ukraine as events go sideways,
Their thoughts might well turn to nuclear byways:
A tactical here, another over yonder,
Just the Right Stuff to make V. Putin ponder.
.
But let's hope against hope it won't come to that,
And Russians impose peace and security diktat,
Though I wonder: when the Ukes re-heat their houses,
Restock their pantries and rejoin their spouses,
What'll they think of their American friends,
Who suckered Prez Z into achieving their ends?
.
And what'll become of the American plot
Which fails to burn Russia and thus keep a lot
Of wannabe powers from the top table,
Whereat they'll live large and quite soon be able
To bypass the Yanks and their "order rules-based"
And create a new system more to their taste?
.
So on Russia's Big Push a lot is riding:
Victory, disaster, or a new tiding.
Like watching a horror flick and telling your friends,
"I'm going for popcorn; just tell me how it ends."
Will we sigh with relief or cry the big tear?
All I can say is, "Have a happy new year."
