Ronald McDonald by scotty trigg

Libya's Muammar Qaddafi announced the other day that the problems in Libya were being caused by, are you sitting down? Al Qaeda. It sounds absurd, doesn't it? But why does it sound absurd? Qaddafi is trying to use the grounds of a foreign insurgency to justify his own use of military power to put down a domestic insurrection. The man is crazy, right? A raving lunatic, right? But aren't these the same grounds given to by George W. Bush and Barack Obama for our own wars?

What's more, Qaddafi is fighting in his own lands while the US is fighting on someone else's land. Former British Prime Minister John Howard proposed military intervention a week ago. Hillary Clinton has proposed a no fly zone for Libya and the European Union grunted in approval. Funny isn't it? There is no budget crisis when it comes to military spending. Why oh why then, are the Russians and Chinese so opposed to a no fly zone? Are they just bad people? Mean spirited perhaps? Or do they smell a rat? The old fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me rule.

The US by establishing power in the air is attempting to establish sway on the ground and Libya's effort to remove Qaddafi becomes an attempt by the United States to merely supplant Qaddafi. Wasn't the no fly zone the original policy in Iraq to keep Saddam, the man President Bush said had ties to Al Qaeda from fighting Kurdish rebels? It illustrates why the United States is no longer seen as a force for good in the world. Why international cooperation through the United Nations is no longer possible thanks in large part to American military adventurism.

Through the ongoing events in Wisconsin and nationally it should be abundantly clear by now to thinking people that the US corporate media is no freer than the monkeys are in the zoo. They live on Monkey Island and are free to report on the events from one end of Monkey Island all the way to the other. One hundred thousand people protesting in Madison Wisconsin isn't newsworthy. Charlie Sheen or fifty tea baggers protesting is hard news.

A Fox news reporter was bumped and heckled in the crowd of protesters in Madison and it was reported as a punch, battery and assault. A Republican lawmaker was trapped in the same crowd outside the Wisconsin capital and the crowd chanted "shame, shame, shame" and "peace, peace, peace." Following those same Fox journalistic standards the Woodstock Arts and Music Festival was the most violent riot in American history. If you are watching and if you are listening then you can clearly see that there is no free press in the United States of America.

The agendas are chosen with emphasis on the preferred rather than the important. The academy awards program gets two days of media coverage in a lack luster year. Mike Huckabee says Obama's mind set is due to his childhood in Kenya. When Huckabee is called out for making such a farcical and ridicules statement he and his staff blame the New York Times and the press goes to sleep. Did Huckabee misspeak? I think not, this is more of the big lie propaganda. Could an educated man with the facts readily and verifiably available actually believe that the President grew up in Kenya?

Red meat for the partisans, keep repeating the big lie. Tell it over and over, tell it until you are blue in the face and when called out on it, and blame the press. When Pat Robertson made the claim during a presidential debate that the Russians still had missiles in Cuba, he was finished as a Presidential candidate. This however, is a new day. This is however, a new dark age.

I feel certain that many will argue, "A new dark age? You're crazy!" I had myself always assumed that the term "Dark Age" had been applied to that realm of history by historian's of a later date. It was however applied by the writers of that time because as they looked out at Roman roads and bridges and they asked themselves, could we build these things? They read the scrolls of the great thinkers in Latin and in Greek and asked, could we write these things? They looked at Greek and Roman architecture and asked; could we build these things?

When the space shuttle lands in a few days it will be taken to a museum so that school children of future generations can see what this nation was once capable of doing. The question is not what we are capable of but what we have the will to be capable of. The United States is out of the manned space flight business for the first time in fifty years. This country is also out of the manufacturing business, the corporations boast with pride of rising profits and the media give them atta boys but the brutal truth is that the profits come from off shoring jobs to third world economies.

Just as in Rome each new Emperor promises to rebuild the empire but only sharpens its swords. The empire can no longer build so it must take by force. It no longer commands by law but by decree, it no longer matters what crime is committed but who is accused of committing it. Bankers steal billions and walk away unaccosted. Hoodlums steal a few hundred dollars from a convenience store and get twenty years. Legislators in Wisconsin and Ohio attempt to limit the rights of their people, to take by decree that which the people have earned through law. How is this any different than Qaddafi? A little more polished perhaps, a little more Hollywood, a little less gunfire but other than that no real difference.

Recently Bloomberg published an article entitled "Accidental Death Becomes Suicide When Insurers Dodge Payouts" The article clearly explains that under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act known as ERISA, insurance companies can dodge pay outs without repercussions. The legislation was first passed in 1974 and was designed to help employers to provide employees with life insurance. Under ERISA employees sign away the right to sue for damages, so if the insurer decides not to pay for say a decade or so there is no penalty or interest.

One woman fought for nine years after Met Life claimed that her husband's car accident was a suicide. Another fought after a blood clot killed her husband and the insurer claimed it was a genetic abnormality and on an on. They don't have to pay you if they don't want to and unless you have the strength and fortitude they won't. Doctors and coroners statements, health histories mean nothing! You are a peasant in the empire at the dawn of a new dark age.

They only tell you what they want you to know and they want you to know nothing. What political party was Caesar in? What political party was Brutus in? It doesn't matter much now does it? George W. Bush was a compassionate conservative and won election by decree. Then he won election again under questionable circumstances and the media said nothing. A decorated war hero was deprecated while the questions of Bush's military service cost Dan Rather his job. Up is down and down is up, wrong is right and right is wrong but Qaddafi is a crazy man isn't he?

In Europe, the growing of genetically modified crops is outlawed; products containing genetically modified ingredients must be clearly labeled for the public. Such is the law in Japan as well, but in America no labeling is required. No labeling of the ingredients used in the products American families must feed to their children. Infant formula is made from genetically modified soy, so drink up! Health studies are done by the manufacturers themselves as Monsanto executives shuffle through the revolving doors of government. Where is your freedom in this new dark age?

In the finance industry the players rotate like a volleyball team, Goldman Sachs, Federal Reserve, the Treasury on to the Commerce Department and then maybe back to Goldman Sachs. Ford executive's serve on Obama's jobs council with CEO's from banks and insurance companies. Each washing each other's laundry and each watching each other's back. The illusion of free government, no different from Saddam or from Muammar. Julian Assuage was arrested for having sex without a condom; Larry Craig was arrested for trying to have sex in an airport men's room. Bill Clinton was impeached for having sex in the oval office. The politicians all walked but Assuage is going down for conspiracy.

I who am I? Born at the pinnacle of American prosperity to parents raised during the last great depression. I was the youngest child of the youngest children born almost between the generations and that in fact clouds and obscures who it is that I (more...)
