Rigged?

"Well, this is quite the pickle, no?" said the White Rabbit, as he sipped his tea. "I'm almost thinking of taking up Queen Elizabeth's offer to bring the US back into the fold."

"Apocryphal, my dear Rabbit," said the Mad Hatter. "But, you are not far off in your underlying thesis that events may not be what they seem."

"Blah, blah, blah," piped in Alice. "All these post-election autopsies are positively ghoulish. It's simple. Just get rid of the Electoral College." She bit into her scone. "Personally, I'd rather go to a party school."

Rabbit eye roll. "Anyway, Hatter, why are you saying that?"

"Look at the stock market," the Hatter responded. "It's actually quite happy."

"After the initial shock, yes, but--"

"That portends optimism about the interests of the moneyed class."

"Indeed. Trump is a Republican after all. Republican President, Republican Congress. And they didn't even have to rig the election."

"And that's where I'm not so certain." The Hatter frowned.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, after my recent stint in the 'big hospital', I'm loath to sniff out conspiracies, but old habits die hard. Hillary was strongly ahead until recently, the 11th of September to be exact. After her unfortunate 'episode' at the memorial event, the meme changed from 'Crooked Hillary' to 'Sick Hillary'."

"She didn't look so bad to me these last few weeks. For an old lady," said Alice. "But she can't hold a candle to Melania."

"Hillary's health seemed to be up and down," said the Mad Hatter. "And, actually, that was one of her problems, going up and down, curbs, stairs, et cetera." He cleared his throat. "But what if the Powers That Be, the Deep State, if you will, worried that she might not be able to move herself or their agenda forward as well as 'the other guy'."

"So, you're saying they opted for a different horse?"

"Possibly. Trump has a gild lining, and Republican jockeys. I'm saying that if they really wanted Hillary, they would have made it happen."

"You don't mean rigging the election? Trump was worried all over the news that Diebold would change their votes to support Hillary."
