Why am I being treated worse in my home-state of Kansas, i.e. as an incoming resident than I have been treated in approximately all of the other 100 other countries I've either traveled to or have worked in as a professional or international volunteer?
What have Brownback, Kobach, and the-worst-GOP -money-can-buy done to my Sunflower State (of my youth and formative years). Horrid, just Horrid!!! Have you been treated badly, too? Let me know?

Today, I was asked by the Kansas Department of Revenue in Kansas City, Kansas to come up with birth certificates and a social security card simply to exchange my current Missouri driver license for a Kansas license. (Officially, I moved from Kansas to Missouri for the first time around 2013. I started a new job in Kansas last month and moved to KC, KS at the same time. )
Well, would you believe that?
Although I have lived in the state of Kansas the majority of the past 43 years of my life, I (i.e. as an incoming or returning emigre from the neighboring state of Missouri, where I have had my voting privileges and driving license since about 2012 or 2013) am now required to show:
(1) A birth certificate from the state I was born in, and
(2) an original or official social security card
in order to simply get a new driver's license in the Sunflower state.
As a political scientist and as an American, this smells like fascist repression against emigres--and any Americans who travel across borders. It is absolutely clearly against Article I of the USA constitution and it is against logic and fair treatment of anyone not living currently in the state of Kansas.
HOW EXTREME IS THE KANSAS DEPT. OF REVENUE PRACTICE IN THE WORLD OF OUR VERY DAY?
Let me see". in Germany, where I lived on-and-off 3 times on-and-off over the years, I never never never had to show my birth certificate at all. Believe me, Germany is strict on many things related to the movements of individuals. Why is the state of Kansas now worse than Germany?
In Japan, where I represented my country for 2 years as an educator in the world's largest exchange teacher program, I never had to show my birth certificate. (Recall, too, that--like Germany--Japan has been really very restrictive of emigrants from anywhere and still has laws and practices that make it hard for those of descent from neighboring countries, like Korea, to even obtain most government privileges.
In Oman, where I taught most recently, I never had to show my birth certificate to get a driver's license. They just accepted my Kansas license back in 2011-2012 and allowed me to trade a copy thereof for an equivalent Omani drivers license.
