Republicans Have Betrayed, Deceived America; Now It's Payback Time

Call it betrayal, treachery, or whatever you wish. There is a large element of the U.S. Congress that has disconnected itself from the American people and no longer represents their interests. It is called the GOP and, through its deceitful and obstructive tactics it has placed a dark stain on the American democracy. Now it's time for the people of this nation to cleanse the halls of Congress of these indentured servants of Corporate America; it's payback time, it's time for swift retribution by sending them into the ranks of the nation's unemployed.

In my lifetime, I have never seen a U.S. Congress that is so totally out of sync with the American people, one whose actions and behavior is so shameful and despicable. The vast majority of the members of this Congress, including both the obstructionist Republicans and too many weak-kneed Democrats no longer deserve to hold the jobs to which they were elected. They have completely failed America and, far worse than that, they have betrayed the American people by putting their interests above that of this nation. That unconscionable, dishonorable behavior can no longer be tolerated; they must go.

Yes, this Congress must be cleansed of the poisonous ideology that has infiltrated its halls. More than 90% of the betrayers of our democracy are Republicans but there are Democrats in both the House and the Senate that are also allied with Corporate America and those who want to dismantle our democracy. The Tea Party and all its members must be specifically targeted for dismissal because of their twisted, demented agenda to overthrow the government; they must be relegated to political purgatory. It is incomprehensible that some people refer to these political misfits as lawmakers.

For those many Americans out there who feel hopeless, frustrated and disillusioned about the state of the American political system I have good news; while it won't be an easy task, this cleansing of Congress is an entirely achievable objective -- if the people of America use the power that the U.S. Constitution has bestowed upon them. I'm speaking of the power of the vote, a power that so far the people have not used nearly as effectively as they should have, or as the Founding Fathers intended.

Right now this corrupted political system, this collusive relationship between Corporate America and the vast majority of the Congress, is by far the greatest problem that this nation and this democracy face. Yet, this problem is not insurmountable, there is a viable solution; yes, viable if the American people have the desire and motivation to intelligently use the mightiest tool in their arsenal, the power of the vote, to turn this nation back into a positive direction.

The future of America is in great danger because of those whose objective is to destroy this society's most important entitlements, its entire safety net for citizens. This nation is reeling and beginning to crumble as our economic problems mount and, at the same time, those in positions of power, mainly the Republicans, continue to stonewall the process and let the problems fester. Massive changes must be made in both the House and the Senate, a complete transformation must take place, and the cancerous growth on the body of our political system must be removed.

Yes, the people have this massive power of the vote but how in the world are we going to wake them up and get them to exercise it in the noble effort to save this nation from suffering a financial and societal collapse? Why should we have to wake them up? What is so very difficult about spending a little time on the most important issues this nation faces? What is so very difficult about spending a few minutes going to the polls and voting for the candidates of choice? Every fit and able voter who stays home out of disgust and disillusionment will be directly responsible for helping those who intend to replace our democratic principles with their own twisted ideologies.
