Lawmakers are promoting a change to the Electoral College Count.
Mitch McConnell is signaling he's open to reforming the Electoral Count Act. While Democrats are pursuing even more sweeping election reforms and federalization of elections.
And Centrist Democrat Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema with a few Republicans also endorsed pursuing work on the Electoral Count Act. Sounds like progress?
--- Don't be Fooled!
Any major reform of the Electoral College would most likely require a constitutional amendment.
In order to pass a constitutional amendment, the measure must be passed by at least two thirds of the House of Representatives and Senate. Even after it meets that requirement, the amendment would need to be ratified by two thirds of the state legislatures in the country.
I think the Republicans have all the time to waste, debating each and every proposal. They might even get to mention the voting rights bills as a tease, if they so choose?
Mitch has thrown the baited hook and the Democrats should just swim past it and pass their own agenda, beginning with the most direct and logical action.
True reform of the Electoral College begins with this proposal:
Eliminate the Electoral College completely.
At the U.S. election held on November 8, 2016, Donald Trump won the Electoral College by 306 Electoral Votes (EVs), to 232 EVs for Hillary Clinton.
Clinton won the overall popular vote by 65.84 million votes, to 62.98 million for Trump, a difference of 2.86 million.
The majority of the "NATION'S" voters wanted Hillary as President.
And we saw the result of a 4 yr presidency based on the mismatched numbers that ushered in a 4 year jaunt of reckless corruption by a grifting administration seeking to overthrow the rule of law".even after the election.
Here's the simple honest TRUTH:
