Roman Rajmund PolaÃ..."žski; born August 18, 1933 at 10:30 AM, Paris France, is a Polish-French film director, producer, writer, and actor. Polanski began his career in Poland, and later became a celebrated Academy Award-winning director of art house and commercial films, making such films as Rosemary's Baby (1968), Chinatown (1974) and The Pianist (2002). Polanski is one of the world's best known contemporary film directors and is widely considered one of the greatest directors of his time. He is also known for his turbulent and controversial personal life.
Polanski is a Virgo Ascendant with Ascendant degree at 14 degrees and 19 minutes. Mercury rules Polanski's ascendant, and 10th house of Career/Position in life, and it is in 10th house itself in the constellation of 5th house (Acting, Drama, Movies, Entertainment) lord Saturn, and Saturn is again located in 5th house. So the 1st house lord which represents Polanski and 10th house representing his career has a very strong connection with 5th house representing entertainment, movies, acting, drama etc. Also Saturn the lord of 5th house of entertainment, movies, acting, and drama is in the 11th house lord (financial gains) Moon's constellation and Moon is in 10th house of career. Rahu is a strong significator of 3rd house (change in residence) by being in 3rd lord mars Constellation. Ketu and Venus are in 12th house, living in a new environment.
During Mercury Mahadasha Polanski directed the 1968 Hollywood horror film Rosemary's Baby. After making several independent films, Polanski returned to Hollywood in 1973 to make Chinatown for Paramount Pictures, with Robert Evans serving as producer. The film was nominated for a total of 11 Academy Awards; stars Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway both received nominations for their roles, and the ingeniously plotted script by Robert Towne won for Best Original Screenplay. A major critical and box-office success from the time of its premiere in the summer of 1974, Chinatown is considered Polanski's greatest achievement as a filmmaker. Polanski's next film, The Tenant (1976), was shot in France, and completed his "Apartment Trilogy", following Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby.
Fron Sept 1974 to Sept 1981 Polanski was in Ketu's Mahadasha. Ketu is in evil 12th house and it is in its own constellation. Also Ketu is in 12th lord Sun's sign and it is in conjunction with Sun. So Ketu is a strong significator of 12th house. 12th house represents confinement, expenses, foreign travels, hospitalization, life in unknown place. Mars in Polanski's chart rules 3rd house (change of residence) and 8th house (Punishment, fine, accidents) and Mars is in 1st house (self) in his own constellation. So Mars is strong significator of 3rd house (leaving one's home), 8th house (punishment, fine) and 1st house (self). In order for a person to go to prison the significators of 3rd house, 8th house and 12th house should operate together through Mahadasha and Bhuktis. On March 10th 1977 when Polanski was convicted of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor; subsequently fled the United States, he was in Ketu Mahadasha (12th house significator) and Mars Bhukti (3rd, 8th, and 1st house significator). Polanski fled US on Feb 1st, 1978 when he was in Ketu Mahadasha (12th house significator) and Rahu Bhukti (3rd and 8th house significator) as Rahu is in Mars constellation.
Since Polanski is Virgo Ascendant so the 7th house of marriage/relationships Jupiter is the Badhaka planet for him and Jupiter is in 12th house in KP System chart and it is in 12th house lord Sun's nakshatra, and sun is in 12th house. This indicates that his chart is not good for marriage and relationships. As we know Polanski was married three times, first time his marriage ended in divorce, second time his wife was murdered. He got into trouble by having sex with a minor because the 7th house of relationships is a Badhaka planet and it is in 12th house lord sun's constellation, a house of loss, confinement.
Polanski was in Venus Mahadasha from Sept 1981 to Sept 2001, and then Sun Mahadasha from Sept 2001 to Sept 2007. But Venus and Sun are strong significators of 12th house as Venus is in 12th lord Sun's constellation and Sun in 12th house is in Ketu's constellation which is again in 12th house. So Polanski spent this time in hiding, leading a life in isolation.
Polanski entered Moon mahadasha in Sept 2007. Moon is the biggest Badhaka planet in his chart as Moon is in Badhaka planet Jupiter's constellation the ruler of 4th and 7th house in 12th house. So Moon is the killer planet in his chart, that has the power to kill him. In Moon Mahadasha Polanski enter Rahu's period from Feb 2009 to August 2010, Rahu is a strong significator of 3rd house leaving one's home and 8th house which represents punishment. At the time of his arrest Saturn and Rahu were transiting 12th lord Sun's Constellation, Jupiter was transiting 3rd and 8th lord mars constellation, and Ketu was transiting Badhaka planet Jupiter's constellation. All slow moving planets were transiting evil nakshatras, and the ascendant lord Mercury was retrograde transiting 12th lord Sun's nakshatra, and it was very close to transit Saturn. Also Saturn was transiting natal Venus and natal Jupiter in Virgo in his chart. Polanski will not be able to survive Moon's mahadasha as Moon is the killer planet in his chart.
