As I wrote on Monday, "Putin to the rescue again"[1], check out Mike Whitney's, "Putin Blitz Leaves Washington Rankled and Confused"[2], Pepe Escobar's, "Are you ready for the two headed coalition"[3], The Saker, "Finally Some Clarity About Russian Plans For Syria"[4], all focusing on Syria, the geopolitical center of attention in the world today with Russian President Vladimir Putin's actions on Syria changing the equation.
If you've been paying attention, IS, the Islamic State and its various al Qaeda affiliates have placed enormous stress on Syria's Bashar Assad and his beleaguered military.
Putin clearly recognizing the situation recently bolstered Assad's forces sending in Russian fighter planes, tanks other armaments-all legal under international law, sending these arms at the request of the Syrian government. He's also worked out military to military agreements with the US and even Israel to avoid clashes in the air over Syria and significantly begun sharing military intelligence in coordination with Syria, Iraq, Iran, Hezbollah and Kurdish forces all fighting against IS and its assorted groups on the ground.
The latest has Russian planes flying sorties against these groups in coordination with its allies on the ground which has "jolted the White House with its unilateral and political moves" and left it "scrambling".
Russian sorties has attacked these assorted terrorist groups with the US and the corporate media condemning the supposed killing free indigenous Syrian forces fighting against Assad. No authenticated proof given of course, because simply there are no indigenous Syrian forces left, they've all joined and or been co opted by IS.
Putin doesn't distinguish between the various terrorist groups in Syria and US consternation is lame bleating because Putin acted without getting prior authorization from the US hegemon-something verboten by the empire so it must be condemned.
No one knows the military and political outcome in Syria (or Iraq for that matter). But Putin's direct intervention and clear headed moves may "jolt" the White House and cause consternation among the neo-cons but his actions are intended to turn the tide against IS and get a political solution that'll benefit all Syrian's, Sunni, Alawite, Druze, Christians, Kurds.
The machinations and chaos the US inflicted starting with "Dubya's" invasion of Iraq in 2003 has matastasized into IS beheading innocents and creating the flood of refugees to Europe's borders.
Clearly this catastrophe must be ended and Putin just may be the one to pull it off. Let's hope so.
