US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

In case you missed it Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a news "briefing" yesterday at the State Department said, China needs to "behave like a normal nation"...and "respect international law". [1]

Yes you read it correctly. According to the Secretary it's China not behaving like a normal nation and not respecting international law. These guys have no shame moralizing to ANY nation about not behaving normally and not respecting international law.

Since the end of WWII the US is the one nation that has completely disregarded international law as it alone sees fit, swaggering about, acting with impunity, being the bully against any nation that didn't fall in line to US Diktat.

No nation can initiate coups, overthrow legitimately elected governments, assassinate its leaders, authorize and commit torture, initiate aggressive wars, detain suspects indefinitely without charges, engage in extraordinary rendition, kill innocents-collateral damage- to say nothing of initiating false flag attacks, fund color revolutions, send agent-provocateurs to infiltrate legitimate protest groups to commit violence against legitimately elected governments, even kill its own citizens if the president alone makes such a decision-just some of the heinous acts the US has committed- and yet there's Pompeo moralizing against China.

It is ludicrous for Pompeo to accuse China of not behaving like a normal nation and not respecting international law.

Sure China does act in its self defense primarily against US provocations. The South China Sea and the Taiwan Straits are China's backyard. When the US sends its warships to enforce its notion of maintaining "freedom of navigation" in those waters, China sees it legitimately as a US provocation, a return of "gunboat diplomacy" as if China was still some 3rd world backwater ruled by warlords and had a weak central government as opposed to today's unified China with the world's second largest economy and a nuclear superpower.

Regrettably, most Americans have been so propagandized and indoctrinated still believing in the "goodness" of America, the "Land of the free and the home of the brave" they've generally accepted the "enemies" official Washington and its complicit corporate MSM have coughed up as threats to the US we must fight against.

So whether its Communists, terrorists, demonized leaders such as Russia's Vladimir Putin, Syria's Bashar Assad, any leader in Iran, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, before them Iraq's Saddam Hussein, Libya's Muammar Qadaffi, Fidel Castro, Chile's Salvador Allende, Nicaragua's Sandinistas, Venezuela's former President Hugo Chavez, now President Nicholas Maduro-hardly an exhaustive list-many, most Americans support official Washington's denunciation of these men. In fact any leader of any country that has taken an independent course rejecting US hegemony over it becomes an "enemy" of the US.

That is the supreme sin any country can take. Either submit to US hegemony or be demonized as the "enemy".

That the myth of the US as the "good guy" in the world remains in the eyes of Americans is astonishing considering the known facts. But the rest of the world is not fooled. It sees the US as the greatest threat to world peace.

So the rhetoric of Pompeo against China yesterday was farcical. The US, now through Trump and his minions is reduced to making threats, issuing sanctions and initiating trade wars. Meanwhile other nations particularly China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Turkey, India are openly resisting, vowing to continue their countries trade with each other despite the threats of reciprocal sanctions and trade wars; trade in their own currencies, by passing the dollar. Even the EU wants continued oil trade with Iran-despite Trumps saying he wants all oil trade with Iran to end-with the Europeans devising financial ways to keep the oil from Iran flowing to them.

On another note In five days there's the congressional elections. If the Dems win control of the House this could spell trouble for Trump with them possibly pushing for his impeachment. But if the Senate remains with the Repubs in control he'd never be convicted.

If anything lots of congressional grandstanding, harrumphing, Trump twittering, the usual song and dance acts we've come to expect.

One thing though be assured, the military/industrial/political/security/surveillance complex won't be effected. They'll still hold sway with their ultimate control of US policy and actions undiminished.
