As you press on with your Presidential quests, I plead with you to consider carefully the catastrophic irreversible "collateral damage" of the natural world that will be caused by the election of Donald Trump.
Trump's disrespect for women extends to Mother Nature.
"We'll be fine with the environment. We can leave a little bit..." (italics mine) was Trump's response to Fox's Sean Hannity when asked: "Who's going to protect the environment?"
The Donald and the Republicans will cripple Gaia, the iconic goddess invoked by Lynn Margulis and James Lovelock in their hypothesis that the biosphere, the oceans, Earth's crust and the atmosphere interact to maintain favorable conditions for life on Earth.
Trump will move quickly, much to the glee of Republicans, to remove the United States from the Kyoto Protocols and the Paris Accords on Climate change, actions that together with his retrograde policies on fossil fuels, will condemn the Earth and its inhabitants to runaway global warming and climate change. These reckless actions will further devastate the most biologically diverse and productive ocean ecosystems including coral reefs, upon which millions depend for food.
Continued fossil fuel combustion will not only incapacitate Gaia, but will kill thousands of innocents in United States. The clean air act saved 160,000 lives last year, and the number of lives saved annually is expected to exceed 230,000 by 2020. This is according to a report released by the Environmental Protection Agency, which Trump has promised to eliminate or cripple.
Trump's allegiance to coal will mean a massive increase in the criminal practice of mountaintop removal with its devastation of stream valleys, destructive effects on nearby residents, and defiling of the central Appalachian Mountains.
The Trumpian regime will enable the most radical anti-environment agenda in the past century.
