This week Wikileaks released a potential bombshell in the Podesta Emails when it revealed that a top Department of Justice Official, with a long and close personal history with John Podesta, the chairman of the Clinton Campaign, was providing the campaign with advance internal information about the series of investigations into Clinton.
Kadzik, who attended law school with Podesta at Georgetown, was also in the news this week as the FBI released its files on Mark Rich, a billionaire with close financial ties to the Clintons known for tax evasions and trading illegalities, who lobbied Podesta while Bill Clinton's Chief of Staff to obtain an infamous pardon. (Kadzik Biography at the Department of Justice)
Kadzik also appears to have been assigned a key role, given the FBI Director's re-initiating an investigation into the Clinton emails, at least in the DoJ involvement in the investigation as pertains to the Huma Abedin emails discovered on her husband's, former Congressman Anthony Weiner, computer.
Perhaps the email that stood out most to many was the one in which Podesta, referring back to the Monica Lewinski scandals of Bill Clinton, calls him a "fantastic lawyer" who helped keep him [Podesta] "out of jail."
In this email, from 2008, Podesta is speaking to the late Cassandra Butts, Deputy White House Counsel, about Kazdik offering to be involved in assisting the Obama Administration. (SEE: 00021473.eml https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/3933). But while this does demonstrate the close relationship between Kazdik and Podesta it is more recent emails that are more troubling.
Most problematic is an email entitled "Heads up" that Podesta forwarded to top Clinton Campaign staffers such as Jennifer Palmieri and Cheryl Mills on May 19th - literally giving Clinton and her campaign a "heads up" on the internal developments of the Department of Justice in regard to the many investigations ongoing into the Clintons.
So what more may the Wikileaks Podesta Emails tell us about Kadzik's role as a mole leaking information, if not influencing the investigations, on behalf of Bill and Hillary Clinton? As just mentioned perhaps the most damning email, that of May 19th, was in the body of an email Podesta forwarded on later that morning to Hillary's top advisors. The original email - contained in the body of another released on November 2nd in the 26th Podesta dump - is not, yet, among those released by Wikileaks - although it is likely that it will eventually be one of the emails that will be released in a future dump (It is not present in the dumps through the 26th released on November 2nd). [May 19th Email Forwarding Kadzik's Email: 00029562.eml - Link on Wikileaks - Download .eml file] But Podesta's language introducing the information to the Clinton confidants, "Additional chances for mischief," only emphasizes the inappropriateness of the exchanges with Kadzik.
What the Map of the database shows (See the Series: Navigating Wikileaks: A Guide to the Podesta Emails) is that Kadzik did not send many emails to Podesta. As the Department of Justice stressed, in an odd approach to "justification" of his behavior, Kadzik did not send the emails using his official DoJ email account. He was not, the Department seems to be emphasizing, speaking in his official capacity as Assistant Director, but as a private individual (as if this excused the improper behavior).
What we see is that there are 9 possible emails from Kadzik to Podesta in the database. (Two are at the latter end of the section of the emails when listed by filename (which is an 8-digit sequential number corresponding to an alphabetical listing of senders - thus these may include Kadzik emails but this will not be known until those two emails are released.) Two further emails as yet to be released will necessarily be from Kadzik - giving us a total of four and a minimum of two further emails expected from Wikileaks.
The five emails thus far released from the potential nine do not, significantly, include the May 19th email forwarded by Podesta. Utilizing the Map we can see that this email can be anticipated to be released eventually falling into one of the latter two gaps - either 00045827.eml or 00045828.eml should contain this email. That means we can confidently expect at minimum two further emails from Kadzik to Podesta and potentially three.
