In these turbulent times, do we retreat into ourselves or come together?

Peggy Holman, founder of Open Circle Company and facilitator of the
"Journalism That Matters" conferences, explores how bringing a
diversity of voices together is essential to achieving "emergent
change" and allows us to turn crisis into opportunity. Where citizens
used to be merely consumers of news and journalists the providers, now
they join together into a "new news ecology" that is frightening to
the old order but brings with it possibility previously unimagined.

Peggy provides examples of unlikely partnerships that form between
East and West, young and old, traditional and high-tech. She
facilitates the simple act of conversation to help people accept that
the "fences are down" because everyone can be a journalist. She
defines a new kind of tool-a macroscope-that allows us to view
ourselves in a larger context and evolve into a healthier society. Her
examples of emergent change support her statement that "Things are
getting better as we speak."
