When the final remaining contenders
suspended their campaigns in the Republican race for nomination to
run for the office of President of the United States of America,
Donald Trump was the only candidate remaining, and thus became the
Republican Party's "presumptive" nominee. It's not that he had a
majority of support, or that he was clearly, in the eyes of
Republican Americans, the one person who could lead the country in
the direction Republican citizens would consider right. All it meant
was that he was the only one left in the race: thus, the
"presumptive" nominee.
Now, on the final Super Tuesday of the
Democratic race, and hours before the polls had closed (and I mean
voting places, not surveys), Hillary Clinton has become the
PRESUMPTUOUS nominee of the Democratic Party. This is based on the
committed delegates from earlier caucuses and primaries, from
projecting the anticipated votes from SuperDelegates (though their
votes may not reflect the will of the People), and also from a
carefully timed brainwashing technique Hillary learned from the man
she's still married to, who, during his own presidency, effectively
pulled the wool over the eyes of America, and in service to his
corporatist supporters, managed to get NAFTA passed -- the North
American Free Trade Agreement -- which resulted in the expatriation
of factories and jobs to Latin America, the destruction of culture
and habitat in those countries, and the escalation of economic
stratification in our own. The corporations won; the People lost.
Now Hillary is using similar tactics, claiming the Democratic nomination before she has earned it, in the attempt to baffle last-minute voters and dominate in the final Super-Tuesday vote. She's a manipulator. She's deceitful. She's not the "presumptive" nominee at all -- just the presumptuous one.
