To fathers who sit in war-rooms

who mark foreign cities in red

who return home to hug their daughters

in sundown light

Surely as you arrive

and see her small, bright body

her urgent mouth shouting, Daddy, Pappa

as she leaps into the safety of your arms

surely you know, your must know

the daughters of Minab did the same

And as her scent settles in your throat

you must surely know justice

is not this -

the immolation of schoolgirls

blown heavenward

So dear father - when she wakes

speak to her

speak the meaning of their names:

bright star, sweet rain, wild rose

gift of God, spring

And at daybreak, tell her

how our mouths burn

with their bones

Let us remember: The bombing of the school in Minab, Iran, February 26, 2026 was the work of an American made, American launched Tomahawk missile. The United States has not taken any responsibility for this terrible war crime which inaugurated the war on Iran.
