Regine Simon, a prominent business leader in Haiti, just met recently with ex-President Bill Clinton as she accompanied him on a tour of the Darbonne Sugar Mill, which she helps manage. She now is inviting Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to consider aiding in the redevelopment of this same region of Là ©ogà ne in an open letter below. It is really a petition from the farmers and planters of Là ©ogà ne and I have actually included an image from the physical letter with the actual signatures of four planters as well as Regine's at the end of the letter.
But first, here are several photos of Bill Clinton's tour of the sugar mill. Regine is on the far left in both photos:
-
In this photo, the ex-president is meeting with officials from the sugar mill and local representatives.
-
Regine fields questions from Bill. The fellow in the middle is an expert on every facet of sugarcane refining.
