Our Father, who art in the Pentagon, Rummy be thy name . . . The drips and drops of scandalous information about the Bush Crime Family's illegal crusade against the Muslim world keeps leaking out like the Abu Graib photographs, one tiny bit of shocking evidence at a time.  Now we learn from GQ, of all sources, that Donald Rumsfeld adorned his "Worldwide Intelligence Updates" with Biblical verses before personally presenting them to Man-or-Monkey for his daily perusal.

The New York Times reported it this way:

In the selection of the cover sheets that GQ placed on its Web site, photographs of soldiers praying or in action on the sands of Iraq were overlaid with quotations like this one from Isaiah: "Their arrows are sharp, all their bows are strung; their horses' hoofs seem like flint, their chariot wheels are like a whirlwind."

Another, showing a tank at sunset, had this quotation from Ephesians: "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

Gag me with a flaming chariot.  We all know what Rumsferatu was doing.  He knew "President" Chucklenutz' brain was about as malleable as silly putty, and he knew the Biblical scripture and imagery would target said spongy brain stem, evoking the desired response of framing the so-called "war on terror" as a Holy War against the non-believing Evildoers Dubya was certain were lurking in our vegetable gardens, poised to kill us in our sleep.

Methinks Rummy mis overestimated the amount of propaganda needed to prod Dim Son into escalating the Crusade.  All he had to do was grab a couple of crayons and scrawl "Jesus good, Mohammad, bad" on the coversheet and he could've saved himself a lot of effort.  And ink toner.  He's such an overachiver.

The GQ article also stated that some "unnamed" Pentagon officials worried that if the evidence of these proselytizing report covers were discovered (they were marked "Top Secret") that "they could be interpreted as a suggestion that the war was religiously driven, a battle against Islam."  No kidding . . . really?  Y'think?

This story is vaguely reminiscent of the 2003 scandal involving Lt. General William Boykin, another Soldier in the Army of the Lord who served under Bush/Rummy as US Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and who upped the ante on killing for Christ.  You remember Boykin, the pious pontificator who preached that Islamic extremists hate America "because we're a Christian nation . . . and the enemy is a guy named Satan."

Gee, I thought they hated us because we bought houses.
Boykin later sermonized about his service in Somalia, explaining his success over a Muslim warlord  "I knew my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol."

No offical action or diciplinary procedure was ever taken against Boykin.  What a shock.

This latest -- pardon the pun -- revelation about Rummy's religious reports will doubtlessly pass without official action as well.  But stories like this make me recall my favorite warlike Biblical quotation, which was  so deftly recited by Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction . . .

Kathy never expected a career in radio as a talk show producer. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Kathy was completing her nursing degree when in 2001 - in an emergency - she was asked to fill in as the producer of Mike's program. Within a few (more...)
