Bradley Manning was acquitted on the most serious charge of aiding the enemy, a charge his defense attorneys had attempted to have dropped. But he has been convicted on a number of other charges.

Here are some quotes taken from live post-trial coverage by Democracy now, of comments people have made.

Jeremy Scahill, in response to the
Everything I know about Bradley did this because he believed ...it was a moral crime. He's a whistlelower.
People say Ed Snowden should have handed himself in to authorities.  Look what happened to Bradley who didn't run away.
This throws a message to whistleblowers...
Birgitta Jonsdottir said, commenting on the failure of Manning's defense to get the "aiding the enemy" charge dropped:
" That charge was such a danger not only to Bradley manning but to every journalist in our world. There are many Icelanders here with me. We decided to show our support by watching the report together."
  1. Bradley Manning GUILTY of four embezzlement of govt property offenses

Bradley Manning found GUILTY of six Espionage Act offenses (including lesser included offenses)

Kevin Gosztola--
It's incredible... it is clear that the judge did not find enough evidence or that there was not a reasonable doubt that he'd aided the enemy.

Amy Goodman:
Manning faces possible punishment of 136 years, even without the charge of aiding the enemy.

Kevin Gosztola:
Sentencing phase, defense will be calling more witnesses than prosecution.
Internet doesn't work in the media center-- conditions with the press have become more hostile with the media and the military public affairs-- apparently the judge is instructing people to have zero tolerance any more.
Found to have espionage violations by releasing Iraq war logs-- decision to look the other way that detainees were handed over to Iraq police to be tortured. There was a kill squad going around Iraq...
Manning released records of air strike where over 100 civilians were killed.
We're looking at two or three weeks for sentencing- It's going to be a lot harder, a lot more contentious than the main trial.
I'm flabbergasted, upset and frustrated that the judge has not given us a piece of paper so we can clearly see what Manning has been convicted of and not convicted of.
Freedom of the press foundation crowd funded transcripts. Military refused.

Jake Tapper of CNN
Obama  admin is using the espionage act more aggressively than any admin before...
Administration has not given one example of claims made that US security was harmed.
