From time to time when the needs arise, some Governments will decide to get together and form a new IGO. Of course, we're talking about an 'intergovernmental organization' which carries with it an instant recognition due to Public International Law.

At the beginning of the month, a new IGO was formed specifically to deal with matters of college accreditation. It was decided that due to the the problem of illegal schools operating online, something needed to be done. 'EDU' was the result.

'EDU' has been designated the www.edu.int internet address, the .INT signifying its international recognition status as Intergovernmental.

The organization aims to build a reliable database of academic institututions known to be doing business legally and will enter into discussions with private and national accreditation agencies to contribute advice. The idea has had positive reviews from academics, many describing the move as "long overdue".

G.Irving Levance, the first Secretary-General of 'EDU', has been recruiting experts in the field of Education, Accreditation and International Relations for some time in preparation for the official founding of the Organization. He will announce a the list of experts on the 'EDU' website next month.
