Caricature of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu depicted behind capital dome in Washington

Let's "cut through the fog" regarding today's elections in Israel; Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is desperate to retain power.

To that end he's been appealing to the extreme Israeli right coming right out and saying something never before uttered publically by any prime minister in the history of the Jewish state since its inception in 1948, namely there will be no establishment of a Palestinian state.

And that laid bare beyond a shadow of a doubt what all these "negotiations" with any Palestinian entity all these years have been all about; a charade, nothing but a show, a farce revealing Israel never, ever entertained even the idea of a separate Palestinian state.

Though this election has been presented by the corporate MSM as personal, "Bibi" or some other scoundrel becoming prime minister, nothing will change vis-a-vis the Palestinian's i.e. Israel will remain an apartheid state with its illegal occupation of the West Bank, continue bulldozing Palestinian homes and orchards confiscate their land to make way for mostly orthodox Jewish settlers-who see Palestinian's as vagrants-to build new settlements all done under the watchful eye and protection of the Israeli Defense Force, continue the blockade of Gaza while occasionally having the IDF bomb the enclave making it an open air prison with no escape.

So whomever "wins" these elections in Israel the Palestinian's will continue to lose.

Backed unconditionally by "official" Washington nothing of consequence will change just possibly the name of the leader of the Israeli state.

Despite his grandstanding performance before a joint session of Congress earlier this month and the Obama crowd becoming apoplectic over "Bibi" openly snubbing the prez, whether Bibi remains the PM or someone else emerges to take the reins, the only thing that may change is the name on the place settings at official dinners.

This Congress is beholden to the Israeli lobby as never before, seen each year genuflecting at the AIPAC conference paying their respects to the "Don" and his largesse that underwrites their campaigns .

It's a dangerous symbiotic arrangement between Israel and "official" Washington though which is the parasite and the other the host is irrelevant.

Both present a mortal threat to the world. Each acts with impunity knowing they won't be held accountable for the brutal policies and actions they commit on their mostly innocent victims.

Meanwhile the MSM breathlessly awaits the outcome; who could possibly be the next PM of Israel?

It's like an old vaudeville act, just not hilarious.
