Mr. Narendra Modi will deliver one of his most memorable speeches on Monday, May 26, 2014 upon taking the oath of office of the Prime Minister of India, and I am going hypothesize the contents of his speech based on my embryonic understanding of him firmed up over the last few weeks.

I believe he is committed to building a cohesive India, where no Indian has to live in apprehension or fear of the other. The theme of his speech would be simple: inclusive development.

Modi's embrace would include every one of the 1.237 billion Indians of different languages, races, tribes, regions, religions and cultures. He will lay a great emphasis on his favorite mantra "Sab ka Sath, Sab ka Vikas" --Everyone together with prosperity for all.

He will call on his opponents to join him in taking the nation forward. His ego is bigger than himself, and as such, he will take pride in claiming to be the Prime Minister for everyone whether one has voted for him or not, believed in him or not, but will serve them all with no malice.
Modi will address the need to be responsible citizens and not become a nuisance to fellow Indians, particularly women and those who differ. He will assert that the loose cannons will not get away in his administration.
The moderate Indians will be relieved to know that Mr. Modi will reign in on men with divisive rhetoric. However freedom of speech will not be a victim.

Modi will assure Muslims, Dalits, Christians, Sikhs and other minorities that no injustice or fake encounters will be carried out. Independent investigations will be thoroughly conducted to get to the bottom of the truth and serve justice.

His Vikas team will refigure development to benefit all segments of the society and not directed towards any specific groups, and no community will be left behind. He will spell out that his government understands that unequal opportunities amounts to injustice and goes against the Raj Dharma -- good governance.

The thrust of development would center on job creation, increased manufacturing and building infrastructure.

For the first time in India's history attention will be given to sanitation, and most Indians are thrilled with his statement and looking forward to the idea of "building toilets before building temples", and this would be genuine development.

He will talk about plans facilitating accessibility of potable water, cooking gas and electricity to the common man.

On Foreign policy, he will take extraordinary steps to build cooperative relations with Pakistan, Bangladesh and other SAARC nations, and develop good working relations with China, Japan, Brazil and perhaps the United States. He aims to secure a permanent seat for India at the United Nations Security Council.

He will consolidate his Mantra, Sab ka sath sab ka Vikas with the statement, equal opportunity, equal access and equal justice for every Indian in employment, housing and education.

Modi's legacy

The Modi I have learned is the kind who wants to leave his imprint on the society, the most enduring legacy would be bringing Indians together in nation building. He will talk about a vibrant India, instilling pride among Indians as one people and one nation under the big sky. Indeed, it would be a fulfillment of the wisdom of our pluralistic ethos embedded in the Sanskrit phrase "Vasudhaiva Kutumbukum," a concept where everyone is considered to be a part of one big human family and therefore must take care of each other.

As a nation, collectively we are Adivasis, Atheists, Bahà ¡'s, Bos, Buddhists, Christians, Dalits, Hindus, Jains, Jewish, Muslim, Sikhs, Tribals, Zoroastrians and every possible grouping. We are Brown, Black, White, Yellow and green with envy, "magar phir bhi dil hai Hindustani"- but our heart is Indian.

I have been critical of Mr. Modi, however in the last few weeks; I have seen optimism, pragmatism, pluralism and hope in his speeches, and I pray that his plans come to life and benefit the nation. The man has remarkably morphed from the exclusive right to the inclusive center politically. I believe he has the potential to become one of the visionaries of India in the likes of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru who was instrumental in building a stable secular democracy, a solid foundation upon which we have built our nation and have come this far.

Patriotism will be re-defined in terms of what you do to uplift the hopes and aspirations of people, in terms of education, jobs and a better life style to every Indian.

A better future of India is in works with Mr. Modi at the helm, and I know he will help people achieve their dreams.
