Israeli and Palestinian Flags
Palestinian and Israeli "negotiators" were at the U.S. State Department headquarters Monday and Tuesday supposedly to begin a new round of "peace talks".
Secretary of State John Kerry organized the talks that began on Monday. Aside from photo ops and procedural discussions, nothing of significance was accomplished. No surprise there.
According to polls, majorities of Palestinians as well as Israeli's believe nothing will come from the talks. Yesterday Kerry acknowledged the obvious saying, "There is no shortage of passionate skeptics". And why not John, such "skepticism" shouldn't be seen as anything surprising.
If takes a cold hard look at the conflict and why it hasn't been resolved all these years reveals it has little to do with the Palestinian side and everything to do with the Israeli's.
The Palestinians are occupied peoples living under the apartheid rule of the Israeli government which has never intended for peace talks with the Palestinians to succeed.
Why is this so? It is primarily connected to forces within the U.S. who give unwavering support to the Israeli government, firstly by the U.S. government and then the influence AIPAC (America Israel Public Affairs Committee) exerts over U.S. office holders, those in the Congress who genuflect their support of this Israeli right wing group each year at its annual convention. Significantly, AIPAC gets its deep pocketed pals to independently, (and not coming directly from AIPAC), to underwrite the electoral campaigns of these U.S. Congressional trolls thus making them beholden to whatever policies the Israeli government executes with impunity.
