MHA’s Resource Center
Last week, I and members of Mental Health America were asked to help save lives by donating to MHA’s Resource Center. Thanks to all who donated, a donor has offered to match up to $2,000 for all gifts that come in before September 5th. Your donation will go twice as far, so it’s the perfect time to give.
. Your generosity could help people like Alicia whose son , Troy has multiple mental heath conditions, including bipolar disorder , and problems with his father. When Troy was hospitalized, several psychiatrists recommended that Alicia place him into therapeutic residential treatment. Alicia tried to follow their recommendations, knowing that the treatment could be the turning point for Troy, but the insurance company refused to cover the cost unless Alicia gave up her parental rights.
Desperate for an option that wouldn’t force her to give custody of her son to the state, Alicia turned to MHA’s Resource Center. With the help of the Resource Center and her MHA state affiliate Alicia was able to keep custody of her son, and Troy received the help he needed.
The Resource Center offered support at a time when Alicia thought no one else cared about her and her son-- and it made all the difference.
