For the past seven years, the Republicans have had only one terrorist attack to live off of as their raison d'etre, literally their only reason for existence. George Bush has ridden that one to death and it will be of no use in trying to get McCain elected. The Republicans desperately need another one, to start the whole cycle over again. It's the only thing they have to run on.
McCain sent out a stalking horse with deniability in the form of Charlie Black to let it be known that, as any of us would, he would be grateful for an advantage. To whom is he addressing the desirability of receiving an advantage? It doesn't take much to set off the guys in the caves. They're cranked up and ready to go.
Henry II shouted, "Will no one rid me of this pestilent priest?" and Thomas Becket was no more. Of course, Henry loudly proclaimed his innocence and that he had nothing to do with the death of Becket, just as McCain will loudly proclaim his innocence at having had nothing to do with another terrorist attack. Except, in both their cases, they instigated it.
Could there be terrorists plotting another attack right now because, hey, they're asking for it and, hey, we'll have a friend in the Oval Office?

"On April 29 of this year, CIA veteran Roland V. Carnaby was shot dead by police officers after a high speed chase through the streets of Houston. Carnaby, who had been the CIA's Chief of Station for the Southeast Region headquartered in Houston, was involved in conducting security surveys of the Port of Houston and had discovered that the Department of Homeland Security was tolerating gaping holes in port security."
"According to (Wayne Madsen, former National Security Agency analyst) federal agents in Houston fear that another '9/11-type part false flag attack' is imminent, perhaps as early as July 4."
On 9/11 there were gaping holes in airport security and air defense security, presided over and tolerated by George Bush, with Dick Cheney conducting an "exercise" simulating planes flying into buildings. Just a coincidence, that.
George Bush was told in August of 2001 that Osama bin Laden was determined to attack the US using planes flown into buildings. The very next month, on September 11, planes were flown into buildings. That attack, sadly, made George Bush what he is today. I don't have to tell you what that is. Good taste prevents it. You know. Until 9/11 he had nothing to go with his finely developed swagger, strut and smirk. It was wasted. He had nothing to swagger, strut and smirk about. But, on 9/11, he got it. It was the proudest day of his miserable life.
Now, we have John McCain trying to jump the gun, hoping to get an attack in before the election, rather than waste almost a whole year to find his raison d'etre. He'll be set up and ready to go, hit the ground running, Bushlike, in all the wrong directions.
The Republicans think, as expressed by Charlie Black, that terrorist attacks are good for Republicans. It's a sad commentary on Republican political ideology that only catastrophe can scare the liver out of the people to where they'll believe the Republican false claim that they're tough on terrorism. The 9/11 attacks prove the opposite. If they were tough on terrorism, 9/11 wouldn't have happened.
They can't see that electing another Republican president turns logic on its head. A Republican president, George Bush presided (that's what presidents do) over the worst terrorist attack on the US in all of history. Another attack, as wished for by the McCain campaign, would give us another attack presided over by the same Republican president.
And, in defiance of logic and reason, the McCain campaign thinks that two attacks with a Republican president is a good reason to elect another Republican president.
Another. Republican. President. Just think about that for a moment.
It's impossible to come to terms with the total irrationality of it.
