This evening, shortly after police lifted the orders keeping people in their homes, a home-owner went outside and saw suspicious signs. That led to discovery that surviving second suspect Tsarnaev was seriously wounded, hiding in a boat in a backyard.
Tsarnaev is now under custody, in a hospital, seriously injured.
by boston regional intelligence center My take is that it took someone getting out of the house. I'm not sure if it was disobedience of the police order to stay indoors or if the police had lifted the order. It doesn't matter. When the lockdown was lifted, the solution to capturing the suspect came from the bottom up, when top down forces were either disobeyed or pulled back.
Of course, the police and the enablers who are pushing us further toward a police state, will give the police all the credit, and suggest that the lockdown worked in some way. Say it enough and it's true for some.
Some have suggested that there were private security present at the Marathon finishing line, possibly people with the latest reincarnation of Blackwater, Xe, etc.. That didn't pay off very well, did it, keeping the people safe? How about learning from this episode and use a bottom up approach to engage the participants and audience. That'll provide profoundly more man and woman power. Include brief trainings for people waiting the hours of the run.
Carmen Ortiz, DOJ attorney who some say prosecuted Aaron Swartz to death, made it clear that she would be using a public safety exemption based on national security that would allow the suspect to not be Mirandized.
" @SusieMadrak Remember, the same U.S. Attorney who just explained why she didn't have to read suspect his rights is same who targeted Aaron Swartz.
"@ YourAnonNews Carmen Ortiz is leading the prosecution? She'll make sure he gets life whether there's evidence or not. . .

it's going to be very interesting to see how the different ideologies and factions frame this.
My take is that terrorism is bad news for democracy. It ramps up fear and gives top down authoritarians grabbing opportunities-- opening nodes where it is easier to ratchet up the public's tolerance of higher levels and intensities of police state intrusion and control.
I'm also wondering how this "little brother" will fare with the public-- will they have any sympathy for him having been influenced by an older brother? He has a prettier face than any of the recent monster killers, like Jared Loughner or Adam Lanza. Maybe he'll really spill some important beans.
Twitter has seen a few comments on how Obama and the media played down the role of the Russian government in providing intelligence.
The boys' father and aunt both expressed suspicion that the boys were set up. With the long history of the FBI setting up other terrorist wannabes, one has to wonder whether these young men had any dalliances with the FBI... of the entrapment kind.
It is very likely that the most corporately inspired members of congress will come up with responses to the Boston episode that lead to proposals for legislation that will benefit their sponsors.
There will also be some legislators who call for further restricting our rights and freedoms. Terrorists don't win by living. They win by killing be best part of our constitutional freedoms. It's too bad that pro-gun and pro-life care so little about the biggest threats to our constitutional freedoms from the corporations that have our members of congress under such tight control.
This is a relieving end to a very long day I started before 5:00 AM. I offer my hopes and prayers for all the survivors/victims of this mindless, sad episode. And I pray that the conversation after this episode includes discussing going too far with police control. It is possible to give kudos to police while also acknowledging that the people played a powerful role, and that lockdowns and use of private militias did not help and maybe hurt.
