Upper Marlboro, MD -- Warren Christopher, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel, formally announced on Veterans Day 2015 that he will run for the United States Congress in the 4th Congressional District of Maryland.
Christopher, an Army combat veteran of 24 years with multiple military exercises in Iraq and Afghanistan, is seeking to serve his country once again.
The father of two young adult daughters and former senior military advisor to Senators Hillary Clinton, Jack Reed, Mark Pryor, Bill Nelson and John Edwards has Capitol Hill experience on National Security and Defense Policy.
In 2014, Christopher, a former chief of staff at the Department of the Interior, was the only Democratic candidate to oppose incumbent U.S Representative Donna Edwards.
During the Veteran Day kickoff events held in Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties, Christopher told area residents that Maryland's 4th Congressional District needed a Fresh Vision and Trusted Leadership.
"I am not a career politician," said Christopher. "I am a career leader." Christopher vowed to be their servant leader not just representing Democrats.
The campaign event galvanized a diverse collective of people including several veterans who traveled alongside Christopher on a charter bus throughout the district in both counties to promote their support of this Army combat veteran to serve in the United States Congress.
Stops included a veterans brunch at Prince George's Community College, a campaign announcement at the American Legion Post 177 in Severna Park, a Veterans Day memorial at the American Legion Cook-Pinkney Post 141 in Annapolis, and a campaign announcement at the Addison Road Metro Station in Capitol Heights.
Christopher made it a priority to honor and acknowledge the holiday along the way. "Veterans' issues are personal to me," said Christopher. " I will continue to be an advocate for all U.S. military veterans. I am committed to protecting the rights and benefits of my brethren and, their families and not just on Veterans Day."
Christopher, an Upper Marlboro resident, told district supporters they do not get the constituent services they deserve and that he would focus on improving communities, businesses, transportation, education and jobs in the Maryland 4th Congressional District and the country once elected to Congress.
