This message is directed to all Americans, especially those supporting the election of John McCain as President of the United States with Sarah Palin to the office of Vice-President of the United States.  I hope you will read this post in its entirety, as I believe it to contain important information which might be of use to you in making your selection in the coming election.

First, let's examine some history.  In the year 2000, the Republican Party rejected John McCain as their Presidential candidate.  Instead George W. Bush was selected to be their Presidential candidate with Richard (Dick) Cheney as his Vice-Presidential running mate.  To be clear here, the Republican party through their selection process found John McCain not up to the job of President of the United States.

Next, in the year 2004, he was again found to be lacking, and  Bush/Cheney were reelected.  I just want to remind you---John McCain was again rejected by his party as being less qualified than George W. Bush to hold the office of President of the United States.

How are those past choices working out for you?  How about those gas prices--how's that affecting you and your family?  Those oil company profits are really something, aren't they?  Do you still have a job, or has it been shipped overseas yet?  Have you been able to keep a roof over your head, or are you caught up in this foreclosure mess?  How about your neighbors?  Has your neighborhood been effected by the massive foreclosures?  Any abandoned houses running down property values around you?  Have you been able to save for your retirement?  Has your employer managed to terminate your pension plan yet?  How about your salary and benefits, been cut in order to pay out the bonuses, stock options and other benefits to the corporate officers yet?  What do you think about the privatization of Social Security now?

Considering the events on Wall Street this week (Sep 15-18, 2008), would you like to have your social security tied to the success or failure of people you don't even know, people who could care less about your welfare?  Still think that concept is a good idea?   How about saving for your children's college education, been able to put any money away for that?  What about fiscal management and the insane runaway spending of the last eight years?  What about your personal liberties that have eroded under the guise of national security?  What do you think of those "no bid"- contracts that have become so prominent?  Think that policy has benefited taxpayers any, or has it just filled the coffers of corporations friendly to the administration?  What about the quality of government services when needed"--thinking of FEMA and Katrina, possibly Ike the way its looking?  What about that "no child left behind"- program, do you feel that has benefited our nation's children?  What about the promise of war without defined purpose, without end, or at least for another hundred years anyway?  Think the country can afford that without sinking completely into third world status?  Think your children's futures have been affected in a positive way?  Think the national debt will be paid down enough that it won't effect their adult lives?  Will your children be better off than you when they are at the same place in life?

The bottom line here: you are being asked to vote for a man that the "group think"- of the Republican party rejected eight years ago, and again four years ago!  Don't you think that's more than just a little bit peculiar!  Even some Republicans are coming to realize that the last eight years have been an utter fiasco!

I know that as Americans we like to be positive thinkers.  We want to believe in a better, more positive future even under the worst of conditions.  But, do we really want to put the welfare of our children, of future generations, in the hands of a man that has been rejected as inadequate for the job so many times.  The events of our times call for leaders that can truly bring about positive change, that can uplift the nation when all seems lost.  Thinking Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Great Depression and then WWII here.  Is John McCain really the man to do that?  A man of the party that has advocated corporate deregulation, tax breaks for those that need them least, exporting of jobs overseas, eradication of personal and civil liberties, and now unbelievable corporate welfare to such a degree that the Federal Reserve is actually having to print more money because of it.  The government "laissez faire"- approach that has allowed corporations to run slipshod over our country to its detriment has proved to be a failure.  Our country could very well be on the verge of financial collapse.  Corporate greed has negatively impacted the lives of millions of Americans.  Yet, we are being asked to turn the country over to a man who does not even know how many houses he owns!

Consider that we have ignored warnings--Ross Perot, Ron Paul, David Walker, etc.  We refused to listen.  Now, today, the "chicken is coming home to roost"-.

If you don't know who "-David Walker' is then check out "US Government Immorality Will Lead to Bankruptcy"-.  David Walker was a well respected non-partisan Comptroller of the United States from 1998 to 2008.  He resigned his position so that he could be free to speak to Americans about the financial crisis awaiting this country.  He is now President and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation since March 2008.  The Peterson Foundation defines itself as, "-we will work to bring Americans together to find sensible, long-term solutions that transcend age, party lines and ideological divides in order to achieve real results."-  You might be interested to know that the real national debt as defined on the Peterson Foundation site is $52,700,000,000,000 (Fifty-Two trillion, seven hundred billion dollars) and your share of it is $175,000!

If you want business as usual then stick with McCain, and I don't think you will be disappointed.  Already we are seeing lies, distortion, and cover-up (trooper gate, bridge to nowhere, earmarks, qualifications and accomplishments, nepotism, etc.).  However, if you love this country, desire to see it return to the principles that made it the envy of the world, the bastion of freedom to the many oppressed in this world, then you just might give some very serious consideration to the choices made in the past, and the disastrous consequences coming to fruition right now!

Thank you for taking the time to read these comments.

God Bless America!

Retired from United Airlines after a 36.5 year career. Had pension stole from me by unscrupulous corporate management. I have already experienced a microcosm of what the country is going to go through! Every thing that is going to go down is (more...)
