Karma: It’s Real

The older I get the more I believe in Karma. There's nothing metaphysical about it, just hard evidence that it's real.

The latest proof came this week when former Virginia governor, Bob McDonnell and his wife, were indicted for being on the take, big time.

And here's where the Karma comes in; McDonnell, who looks, sounds and talks like a blow-dried, Elmer Gantry preacher, was the guy who backed a GOP-inspired law that required women in his state who wanted an abortion, to first undergo an ultrasound. And not just any kind of ultrasound, but a internal ultrasound... as in up the vagina with a long wand kind of ultrasound.

Now the US attorney wants to do much the same to McDonnell - take a look up his thieving....   Ah but let me restrain myself there.  The feds want a good look at what's gestating in his private bank accounts, files and behavior during his time in office.

So there he was this week, before the TV cameras, looking and sounding an awful lot like a poor, knocked-up teenager trying to explain away something that; 1) can't be just explained away, and 2) requires no explanation since every adult knows exactly how such things happen, and why.

And, like that poor teenage girl, I bet that McDonnell wishes there were some way to just make the whole thing "go away." But. neither he, nor our hypothetical pregnant teenage girl, can turn the clock back and do things differently. So you can be sure there he'd love to have at his disposal a quick and legal felony-abortion."

And here's where the Karma gets just too delicious; Instead he's going to get the judicial version of an intrusive ultrasound. Only his humiliation will occur in the public square for all to see.

What will the find "up there?" Well, we know what the feds think they'll find. Here's the indictment:

Sex and money... they make the world go-round. With teens it's sex that drives them in matters of indiscretion When it comes to holier-than-though political types, it's money that gets them every time.

Maybe I'd be less judgmental if McDonnell had shown a shred of empathy for women wanting or needing to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Instead he decided the best way to deal with women in that situation was to to punish them with medically unneeded and personally unwanted intrusive medical devices. 

Visions of the inquisition arise. No stretching on a rack until they comply these days.. No. Modern inquisitors use the tools of modern medicine to punish "sinners."

Which is why, in McDonnell's case, I find myself a pro-lifer:" As in a life exposed, a life denounced and, with any luck at all, a life in prison.

Karma; it's real.
