Message Sally McMillan

What happened to candidate Obama's concept, in regard to confrontation, of "We need to change the mindset"? While talking the message of dialogue, it's hard to find it in President Obama's actions. Take North Korea. Investigations have said they did attack a South Korean ship. North Korea denies this.

Secretary of State Clinton is talking tough. She states that the U.S. stands with South Korea and she calls for an international response to North Korea. Our Defense Department has scheduled war games with South Korea.

It's now sixty years since the Korean War and no peace treaty has yet been signed. U.S. troops continue to guard the line between north and south. Why are we there? Has our presence inhibited any possibility of dialogue between the two sides? Are we still fighting communism?

In the present situation will war games only add to tensions between the two sides? Why, actually, does the U.S. need to get involved in this problem between North and South? Wouldn't dialogue be much more likely if we brought U.S. troops home and let the north and south work out their own problems? Maybe, God forbid, peace would break out and we'd lose our clout in the region. There's always Okinawa"or is there?

Are we still acting as if we can rule the world? Is this another Gulf of Tonkin?

Where is the change in mindset?
