JUST THE TRUTH is a hybrid play and film. It's a political thriller and murder mystery that successfully premiered in live theatre and has now been made into a film. Rather than shooting the actors on stage, JUST THE TRUTH was filmed on a soundstage to add movie elements and create a more intimate, immersive experience for the viewer.

Protagonist Laura Taninger, a host of the prime-time news show on her family-owned TV network, discovers suspicious activity that might manipulate voting in President Ken Martin's upcoming bid for reelection. When Laura's source within the administration, who has urgent information for her, is suddenly murdered, she investigates. Facing retaliation against her family's businesses, a smear campaign to destroy her reputation, and the intense pressure of her family to give up her investigation, Laura is determined to pursue the story. Significant themes include family conflicts, compromise, character, and integrity.

Set in Washington, DC, in the near future, JUST THE TRUTH portrays the threats to a free press in an era of growing political corruption and the courage of one newswoman who battles a powerful administration and a compromised media to pursue a story that could change the direction of the country. Adapted from the novel of the same name published in June 2020, with purely fictitious characters and events, JUST THE TRUTH foretold major news stories breaking months later. This film offers a penetrating look into the role of journalism and a free press in holding those in power accountable. Corruption, murder, and heroism define this compelling drama that deals with issues of great concern to us today. The treatment sparks lively conversations in a broad, nonpartisan way about power, examining how people use and abuse it.
