I've been hearing the above song, It's the End of the World As We Know It, in my head a lot lately. Check it out.

And I've been thinking how Covid-19 will permanently change things.

Bernie Sander just sent out an email criticizing lobbyists for asking huge asks for support. For example, " International Council of Shopping Centers wants a guarantee of up to $1 trillion," The reality is this is beating a dead horse. The Covid-19 virus is going to push retail sales even more online than ever before. Shopping malls are on the near extinction list. Giving them ANY money would be incredibly stupid. Let them die. Hopefully they'll be replaced by a resurgence of mom-and-pop stores.

Schools are shut down. Kids are learning at home. College students are learning at home. What will happen to all those multibillion dollar campuses, shrines to big donors? I have a feeling education will never be the same again.

People have been sent home to work. My god. Their kids are home too. Families are together more. What a horror... not. Where stay-in-place orders are given, pollution has dropped massively. What a concept, the Covid-19 virus may be the way the world is saved from Climate change. My guess is that a lot of employers will figure out that they need less real estate, less spending on utilities, less spending on liability insurance if they don't have workers come in to work.

But having workers work at home takes some trust-- and probably some work tracking technology. Maybe after Covid-19, employers will trust workers more.

Even medicare for all denying Joe Biden says that when the cure is obtained, everyone should get it for free. Maybe Covid-19 will be the signal that wakes up selfish boomerspeople who have not seen that medicare for all makes us all safer and that healthcare is a human right

Healthier eating. I don't know about you but I am eating healthier. I want my immune system to be as strong as possible, so I am saying no to most sugary foods (except for 70% dark chocolate.) I even threw out a cake that I would have normally devoured. I'll probably come out of this Covid-19 scenario weighing less.

The stock market is crashing and I don't think it's done yet. Fortunately, my meager savings were not in the market. But I wonder how investors will see the market after this massive drop. I'd be surprised if it doesn't drop even further, maybe to levels as low as the lowest levels of 2008-- which would put the DOW at 8,000.

We are seeing leaders arise in the time of crisis. Donald Trump, Mike Pence have proven to be disgusting, propagandists, using this disaster in the worst way to self-promote and excuse their death-causing incompetence and failed leadership. Joe Biden is a no-show explaining that it will take him four days for him to get his webcasting up and running. Even if he does show up on monday, reading from teleprompters for brief stints, his credibility is shot for anyone with a brain. He lost any chance of defeating Trump. Bernie Sanders has shown up and raised money for causes, rather than for his campaign. Andrew Cuomo has shown up and demonstrated how a competent leader functions.

We are not even close to being over this crisis yet. Trump has closed the borders and our farmers depend upon migratory workers to till and harvest the fields. Who knows how that will affect the availability and prices of foods.

The travel and entertainment industries are tanking-- movies, casinos, theaters, travel, airlines, hotels, theme parks, dine-in restaurants. And I wonder how long TV will have advertisers if they lose too much revenue from those industries. It's the weekend. What do you do when everything is closed. I'm probably going to go to a park today, for a walk, and yes, I will stay away from other people.

When I do go out, to a store, to get gas, I am thanking every worker who serves me in any way-- because I really appreciate that they are there, taking the risk they are taking, even though they probably have to be doing it so they can afford to pay their rent. So I think that people may treat the workers they are in contact with better after this is over.

I'm watching what I touch more. I try to remember not to touch door handles. And I think that door handles are going to change so that you don't have to use fingers to open doors.

I get annoyed every time I have to touch a touch screen at a store. It's just stupid and has to be stopped ASAP. So we're not going to be using our fingers to interact with touch screens anymore, the sooner the better.
