From farm7.static.flickr.com/6160/6195602848_05a8262709_n.jpg: Benjamin Netanyahu - Caricature

Caricature of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

How can anyone feel sympathy for the Israeli people when they overwhelmingly support the criminal actions committed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Yesterday the New York Times reported "A poll of Israeli Jews on Wednesday showed more than 8 in 10 were satisfied with Mr. Netanyahu.

As to Netanyahu's savagery in Gaza and his phony 24 hour cease fire "pause", Hamas the legitimately elected government leaders of Gaza refused to agree while Israeli troops remained at the ready in Gaza after invading a week earlier and as long as the illegal Israeli blockade remained in place.

How does anyone consider this a fair fight?

Israel has the most sophisticated modern weapons, jet fighters, bombers, missiles, tanks, artillery and ships off the coast lobbing 16" shells at defenseless people unable to seek shelter with Gaza's borders sealed preventing any escape from the onslaught while Hamas sends ineffective rockets into the mostly Israeli desert.

This is an attempt by Israel to annihilate the Palestinians in Gaza, not just the phony excuse of going after Hamas' leaders.

And there's no hiding this fact with the full support of the Israeli people.

Well the whites in South Africa supported the apartheid regime in that country until the government came to its senses and ended the practice as countries all over the world boycotted and condemned the country.

It appears the same thing needs to happen with the apartheid regime in Israel. Yes there has been a nascent attempt to boycott Israeli goods manufactured in the West Bank with some university professors joining the effort.

But this no more than a token gesture that needs to be expanded to the governments of countries in the world.

Of course that won't include the government in the US which is Israel's primary benefactor and supports everything the Israeli's do.

And the countries in the world would be under enormous pressure with threats of blackmail, economic bribery and economic retaliation by the US colossus that supports the latest Israeli onslaught on the people of Gaza.

People all over the world have taken to the streets protesting against Israel.

As to Jews outside of Israel there needs to be said; how in good conscience can you just sit there silently and not condemn the killing of innocents?
