Is blind support of Israel worth the cost in blood and money?

On the recently taped message from Osama bin Laden that was played on Al Jazeera television on January 24, 2010 he said there will not be peace in the U.S. until there is "peace in Palestine". Since both the Democrats and the Republicans are securely in the pocket of the Israeli lobby, it looks like the U.S. politicians will continue to give Israel BILLIONS of dollars worth of deadly weapons every year as has been the status quo for the lase 30 years or more. In fact, the last U.S. President to take a meaningful stand against Israel was John F. Kennedy.

The blank check and seemingly endless supply of powerful military weapons the U.S. politicians give to Israel virtually guarantees Israel will not stop bullying the Palestinians and stealing their land. This, or course, means the U.S. will remain a target of Islamic insurgents.

On the taped message bin Laden made it very clear a key reason for the attacks on the U.S., including the most recent Christmas attack, is America's blind support for the Jewish state. He said, "It is unfair you enjoy a safe life while our brothers in Gaza
suffer greatly... Our attacks will continue as long as you support
Israel. America will never dream of security unless we will have it in reality in Palestine."

Michael Scheuer, who was the leader of the bin Laden team in the CIA, wrote a thought provoking and revealing book called Imperial Hubris. In the book he writes, "The question is whether U.S. interests require
Americans to be Israel 's protectors and endure the endless
blood-and-treasure costs of that role. Status quo U.S. policy toward
Israel will result in unending war with Islam."

The mainstream media does not report the truth of the costly catastrophic U.S. Middle East foreign policy. For example, what bin Laden said in his message about Israel was not, to my knowledge, covered by the major media outlets. It is possible that it was mentioned, but it was not given the coverage it needs in order to let the American people know what is going on. Surely, if the reality of the situation could get through the established media's virtual blackout, the American people would not tolerate this deadly and tragic nonsense.
