br />What are we waiting for...
Growing up, we are all excited about birthdays and holidays because of the gifts that we are going to receive and give. We just can't wait.

In politics, our legislators are tasks with addressing the issues affecting the country. As citizens, we are anxious for our politicians to listen, make a stand, then ultimately create and vote on legislation. In many cases, we can't wait.
For years now, our politicians have been discussing immigration. 2-3 years ago, a bipartisan committee put together legislation to address immigration reform. Sen. John Boehner has been sitting on it. What is in the legislation and why hasn't it been brought up for a vote? After a lack of movement on the topic, Pres. Obama signed an Executive Order to address a good portion of the undocumented immigrants. Boehner and the GOP called foul and pushed to get courts to override the Executive Order. They did and still there is no one addressing reform in Congress.

Several administrations (including Pres. George W. Bush even after 911) allowed undocumented immigrants to come to the U.S. to help ensure labor costs would remain low and controlled. Recently, Jeb Bush came out in favor of reform. One can't help think this was planned since his family and the GOP allowed immigration for years and Jeb was in line to run for President with a Latin wife.
Now enters Trump and a total 180 degree change from the previous GOP strategic direction. He wants to put up a wall and send all undocumented immigrants back to their home countries. One can't help think that this is the new strategic plan for the GOP because many in the Latin community are leaning towards the Progressive movement.
The question that should be asked to our politicians is "What are you waiting for?" Make a stand, create reform, give those that were allowed to come to the U.S. and work for U.S. businesses a future (without fear of deportation).

What did our early politicians ultimately do for your ancestors that gave you a right to be an American?
They (We) can't wait.
