A Gallup poll issued on April 4th finds that
only 28% of Illinois residents trust their state government. The second-worst
states on this were Maine and Rhode Island, tied at only 40% trust. That 12%
gap (between 28% and 40%) compares to the 6% gap to the next-worst,
Pennsylvania, at 46% trust; then the gaps above that are miniscule, with
Louisiana at 48%; California and Maryland tied at 49%; West Virginia and North
Carolina tied at 51%; Connecticut, Florida, and Nevada at 52%; and so on.
At the very top in residents' trust were North Dakota at 77%, Wyoming at 76%, Utah at 75%, South Dakota at 74%, Nebraska at 73%, Texas at 72%, and Alaska at 71%.
The only trust-outlier in the entire nation is Illinois. Other than that unique state at 28%, all states were between 40% and 77%; and all states except for Maine, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania, were bunched smoothly together between 49%, and the top, 77%.
So, clearly, something's rotten in the state of Illinois. Extraordinarily rotten there.
