How Mitt The Unfit Blew the Election!

During the third week of September, 2012, Mitt "The Unfit" Romney blew any chance of winning the American Presidency.  Irony of ironies, his utter contempt for a large portion of the American people less fortunate than himself was exposed by the grandson of Jimmy Carter, our distinguished former president whom Romney obviously despises.

By now, we have all heard the Mittster's callous and insensitive remaks to a group of his wealthy supporters at a "private" fundraiser in Florida. Believing that he was speaking "off the record" and in response to a question, Romney told the group that he had no hope of winning the 47% (his percentage changed during his remarks) of Americans who "pay no income taxes and rely on the government for their health care, housing, and benefits, because they are 'takers' who merely want handouts rather than working for a living."  Thus, he wrote off about half of our population, including the elderly, the working poor, and veterans, while further denigrating them for having a "victim" mentality.

When confronted with these monumentally-insulting (as well as untrue) remarks, Mitt the Unfit did not deny making them (how could he, when Mother Jones magazine had posted the interchange on Utube?) But he did say that he might have spoken more artfully had he known his remarks would ever go beyond his wealthy hard-core supporters. Then he pleaded for the entire interchange, including the question he had been asked, to be posted -- again, irony of ironies, that only made matters worse for Romney by exposing the gratuitous nature of his remarks, which went far beyond anything the questioner had asked of him.  The exchange made Romney's true feelings about us very clear.

Thus, at one stroke, the Myth of Mitt was destroyed by his own words. Gone is his carefully-crafted image of really caring about average Americans, those of us who struggle to meet our obligations and improve our lives, to do our best for our families and our nation, to strive to make the fundamental  American rights to" life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" really mean something.  The fact is that Romney is a bigoted plutocrat (mainly through family wealth and not his own efforts) who has nothing but contempt for much of the electorate -- even his own suporters who do not happen to be in his financial league.

Mitt the Unfit is undoubtedly not the only Repubican leader who is able and willing to divide America and Americans into the "haves" and "have nots."  What is truly amazing, though, is how many of the "have nots" have been sold a bill of goods by Fox Television and such masters of misrepresentation as Rush Limbaugh, so that they appear to believe that the medicine the Republicans propose to feed us will turn the "have nots" into "haves."  But now, thanks to Romney, even the Followers of Fox should start to realize what a fabric of profound lies composes the whole cloth of the Republican party.  As for Mitt the Unfit, well, he can go back to managing his money, rather than hoping to manage this noble nation.  He might even try paying his own fair share of taxes, and he might even start showing some respect for those less fortunate than himself.  But that is probably far too much to expect from Romney.
