Capitalism is the Problem

Can analyzing the internal conflicts of the capitalistic economic system offer a path toward something more sustainable? Abby Martin of The Empire Files interviews renowned Marxian economist, Dr. Richard D. Wolff, Professor of Economics Emeritus, University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Wolff is one of the founders of Rethinking Marxism, a quarterly, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to rethinking and developing Marxian concepts and theories within economics, culture, and society. He has authored over a dozen books, most recently, Democracy at Work: A Cure for Capitalism, and is a founding member of the New Haven, CT, Green Party. Wolff says Capitalism has "internal contradictions" which make the system inherently unstable and which ultimately must cause its failure unless it transforms into a more sustainable system.
