House Republicans Latest Installment of "Theatre of the Absurd"

Why re-read George Orwell's old novel, "Nineteen Eighty-Four" when you can just listen and observe today's House Republicans latest "double think" insanity of their own making.

This crowd of ideological buffoons belong in a circus or better yet, the theatre of the absurd.

Heck, they already believe "war is peace"; just look at their voting record on funding for unnecessary war.

Their latest bout of psychosis, for which they are in high dungeon, is their rejecting a two month extension of the existing 2% payroll tax cut (the amount each worker contributes to social security) that adds some $1,000 a year to each workers take home pay. In these hard times that's a hefty sum for many cash strapped workers.

It seems these clowns wanted the tax cut extended to a year but that was never agreed to by House and Senate conferees because of other controversial elements within the bill i.e. extending unemployment benefits to the jobless, reducing by 20% Medicare payments to doctors. So in a typical fit of pique (even as the deadline for extending the cut is within days and the Congress is in recess for the holidays) they've refused to sign on to the two month extension (and this from the party that extols itself as tax cutters). When House Speaker Boehner says with a straight face, "We are the party of lower taxes for the American people", it's hard not to shake ones head.   Even Orwell would be rolling his eyes at that one.

To this crowd obviously, "up is down" and "darkness is light". In fact lampooning these imbeciles should be illegal; it's just too easy.

Meanwhile President Obama and the Democrats in both the House and the Senate are left rolling in holiday delight at the House Republicans insanity knowing full well the public is already blaming the latter for their latest example of ignominious stupidity.

One last point; this writer abhors the idea of giving Democrats a pass as they hardly have distinguished themselves as worthy of being considered the people's representatives; for as most of us know, they too are mostly in the pockets of the rich oligarchs that fund their electoral campaigns and which they are beholden to.

So let's keep some perspective; BOTH parties are to blame for this country's monumental legislative dysfunction and the corruption that courses through the sycophants occupying space in both the people's Houses.

It's just in this instance House Republicans have the starring role in this latest production of non fictional abnormal psychology.
