Such a stunning electoral defeat may feel that way--especially if we aren't brave enough to stand up for ourselves along with all those that are marginalized in our country. Now we are called upon to find our bravery, just like the Native Americans risking all to protect their lands and their waters at Standing Rock. Are you a Brave, or"
Are you too defeated, too fearful, too busy, too poor, too old, or too sick to take a stand for our Mother Earth and all her family?
I must answer, "yes" to all these excuses. Nonetheless, I intend to go down not fighting but resisting. I can't go to Standing Rock in person, but I can in my heart, in prayer, by writing and with a contribution from my meager resources. Perhaps our election of a bigot, misogynist, climate denier, and avaricious president signals that it's too late; or perhaps this is a wake up call to sacrificial love. Perhaps enough of us can realize now that living is giving and loving. I, for one, will go down loving.
There are more ways to participate constructively than standing on the front lines.

They tell us:Winter is coming... and Bold Alliance is taking action to support the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and allies at the Oceti Sakowin camps that are holding the line to protect our land, water and climate from the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Temperatures are already plummeting in North Dakota, and adequate housing is absolutely critical to shelter the Water Protectors through the winter.
Bold is raising $35,000 to build 30 tiny solar-powered barns on the Standing Rock land set aside for winter camping.
Each "tiny barn" will be built with sustainable wood and materials sourced from the same family-owned Nebraska company that Bold Nebraska used in 2013 to build the #NoKXL Clean Energy Barn in the path of the Keystone XL pipeline.
