High noon it is in the Democratic Party,
Sun beating down on both the stodgy and arty,
The people in town watching breathless and still,
While slick-groomed reporters for Biden shill,
And the whole apparatus of Establishment churns,
In hopes the electorate soon Bernie spurns.
.
It's easy to get if you see it as one:
The money and the parties that choose who will run,
Joined by the pundits whose analyses follow
The bias of those who want people to swallow
The candidate who won't their wealth taxes raise,
Or trouble the waters that neocons praise.
.
But clear as morning is that many want change,
Change that's for real, not in everyday range,
Which is why years ago they chose the Blond Otter,
Who knows less of life than a fly does a swatter,
But his foul mouth refreshes, his tweets are a kick,
Well worth the vote if he makes Estab' sick.
.
For the U.S. divide ain't between left and right,
'Tween Dem and Repub, nor tax hard and tax lite,
'Tween more gov' and less, nor 'tween rich and poor,
But 'tween change and not, 'cause this system's a bore.
It's guys who are happy with how things now stand,
Versus guys who ain't and want dealt a new hand.
.
Now lots more there are of the lat' than the for',
Hence the need to convince: with Joe less is more:
Less Trump, less tweet, less of outrageous red ties,
Less dumb hair and hot air, less transparent lies,
With Joe, rest assured, it's Barack two-point-oh,
And maybe Michelle will sign on for the show!
.
For they know Joe's victory ain't quite the point,
More to keep Bernie from a new era annoint':
Taxes, Medicare, and for Green Deal three cheers,
Glass-Steagall for banks, the stuff of nightmares!
So cloud cuckoo will continue sans the least bump,
As those slimy Dems hand it back to Don Trump.
