Hero vs. Villain

The process of spying on the American public has been exposed. So, who is the hero and who is the villain in this situation?

Books, songs, and even movies have been created praising the deeds of men and women in our past who have put their personal safety and future at risk for the sake of the average man. The government of the United States wants to persecute and prosecute Edward Snowden for simply telling the truth and exposing violations of our Constitutional Law.

As I watched the Brian Williams interview from Moscow, I believed every word Mr. Snowden said, and now believe that every story we heard from President Obama and Secretary Kerry was full of falsehoods.

For reasons I'm not supposed to understand, it has become perfectly acceptable for our elected officials in Washington to bend or break constitutional law. We have procreated civil war in Iraq. Our government has allowed the major banking executives to continue celebrating their outrageous lives while working people suffered. Our elected officials ignore the demands of the majority of our citizens choosing to favor lobbyists and the wealthy members of our society. Edward Snowden is a hero, defending the constitutional rights of our citizens.

The NSA spying on average Americans is simply one of the most recent reprehensible actions by our government. Beginning with blatant lies told to the American people, and sworn to Congress in 2003, not a single citizen with half-a-brain believes anything our government tells us.

The members of our U.S. government are in business for themselves. If you don't believe that's true, look at the many polls taken about the most important issues to Americans. These issues are a 'no go' for our nation's leaders. They oppose most of what the public wants. So, who do they represent? The answer is 'definitely not you or me.'

57 percent of the American people agree that immigration reform should include a path to citizenship. It would take effort on the applicant's part, and that's not only reasonable, it' important. And it makes sense. These 12 million people would be paying into the system and forced to abide by all of our nation's rules and regulations.

So why doesn't Congress agree with the people they represent? Two reasons. The lobbyists have bribed them into protecting the future of cheap labor for their rich clients. The second reason is the fear of the Republican Party and Tea Party that Hispanics would vote for the Democratic Party in elections.

This is the future of the United States of America; protecting the interests of special-interest groups and ignoring the majority of our citizens. The Constitution has died an unacceptable death, and no amount of CPR (Congressional Posturing and Rationalization) can bring it back to life.

Forced to retire in 2008, I turned to my passion, writing. I published my first novel, "A Little Murder in the Biggest Little City" in October, 2012. I answered an ad for an articles writer, shortly after that, and wrote hundreds of articles for (more...)
