Have you ever wondered while submitting your resume' or filling out an application that your former employer's reputation might exclude you from being considered for hire? Maybe your gut feelings are right.
I have to give Russ Hadick & Associates, Inc. of Centerville, OH credit for their honesty. The intro to their website states they are a "Nationwide recruiting Firm based on Christian Values and Ethics where honesty and integrity are first and foremost."
On the same website, there are two different job listings that state: "IF YOU ARE A CAREER GM OR DELPHI EMPLOYEE, PLEASE DON'T SEND YOUR RESUME!" Click here and here. I don't remember Christ turning away anyone because of who they worked for. Russ Hadick & Associates, Inc. does not disclose for whom they are recruiting.
The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines prejudice as:
1. injury or damage resulting from some judgment or action of another in disregard of one's rights; especially: detriment to one's legal rights or claims
2. a (1): preconceived judgment or opinion (2): an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b: an instance of such judgment or opinion c: an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics. (emphasis added)
General Motors and Delphi (formerly Delco) have employed thousands of workers here in southwest Ohio, my mother being one of them. Mom continued to work even after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. She underwent chemotherapy and three operations until it was physically impossible for her to perform her work duties. She also went to church every week. She was a way better-than-average worker, but according to whomever Russ Hadick & Associates, Inc represents, she would not be fit to be even considered for their employment.
The fact is employers and their recruiters are prejudiced in their practice regarding the reputation of former employers. I would like to thank again Russ Hadick & Associates, Inc. for admitting this up front.
People should be judged on their individual merits and not by whom they were employed, so they can provide the American dream for their loved ones.
