Gifted Surgeon now Prisoner in the System

Message Janet Parker

Dr. Jacques Jaikaran MD is a plastic surgeon who was born in Guyana, land of sugar cane.  But this gifted surgeon is now in a prison cell with no end in sight, a prisoner of the court system.  In spite of over 25 years of successful medical practice, the Texas Medical Board revoked his license to practice medicine for reasons not related to the practice of medicine. How did this happen? Dr. Jacques Jaikaran was put in a Federal Prison by Judge Lynn N. Hughes for attempting to sue a bank and failure to file a tax return. He is currently being held in contempt of court and has for months been kept in solitary confinement and for some time without contact with his wife and friends.  The administrative hearing of the Texas Medical Board has decided to permanently remove Dr. Jacques Jaikaranà ‚¬ „ s medical license.  Dr. Jacques Jaikaran is an outspoken man with strong views on the US economy, the Federal Reserve and the banking system and in 1992 published a book called Debt Virus.Â

Determining Prisoner Abuse and Civil Rights Violations

This bright young man of humble beginnings had ambitions to become a surgeon and so he went to Britain where he could obtain a quality higher education.  Jacques Jaikaran then immigrated to the USA for further medical study. He was working as a Medical Resident in New Jersey when he met the love of his life, his wife of many years, Sue. After a year of courtship they married. After the completion of his residency Dr. Jacques Jaikaran was looking for a place to practice his craft of plastic surgery, the couple felt that Florida would be a good place set up a practice for a plastic surgeon. Dr. Jacques Jaikaran successfully practiced in Florida and later in South Carolina and then finally in 1980 settled in to Texas. Dedicated to his work to repair or reconstruct physical defects of the skin, head and body, he became an expert in structural cosmetic surgery. One very difficult case involved a young 11 year old boy whose right thumb had been severed and hanging just by a thread of tissue. Jacques did not give up and amputate, which would have been the easiest thing to do.  He instead painstakingly,  structure by structure,  reattached the thumb. This was a heroic feat and the young man has a completely functional right thumb today. Plastic surgery is an art form as well as a technical surgical skill which Dr. Jacques Jaikaran plied with great ability including reconstructing facial features after severe deforming injuries. We will be watching what the court does and whether Dr. Jacques Jaikaran will again be able to practice his craft of medicine.
